During Catholic Education Week the staff, students and parents at St. Brendan Catholic Elementary School exemplified what it means to model Strength in Unity. St. Brendan Catholic Elementary School in Stouffville was given the distinction by CTV News as one of the GTA’s “REAL COOL SCHOOL” . In it’s premier show, Anwar Knight of CTV News joined the Gryphons to film “Knight In The Morning“. The special addition segment celebrates school spirit, school accolades, inspirational stories, charitable events and so much more.
The Gryphons were selected one of GTA’s “REAL COOL SCHOOLS” because of it’s dynamic school culture inspired by Navigating Excellence With Spirit (N.E.W.S). With St. Brendan as the school’s Patron Saint, the school community has created a school culture that exemplifies Catholic Virtues as students journey through each day.
Some of the school activities that were highlighted include Luke 4:18, First Lego League, Art Club, Glee, Acapella, Choir, Rubik’s Club, Eco Club and Speed Stacking. Each activity allows students to participate in the school day both inside and outside of the classroom celebrating their skills and abilities. Students have the opportunity to lead clubs and share their talents as devoted Catholics and contributing community members.
St. Brendan Catholic Elementary School was built in 2012 and has over 730 students. The school’s founding principal Diane Sharp, along with devoted staff members have modelled the school after St. Brendan the Navigator from the ground up over the past 5 years. Students are encouraged to be Guiding Lights and Beacons of Faith as they participate in academics, athletics, the Arts and Social Justice Initiatives.
