Canada’s Sesquicentennial Tree Planting and Thanksgiving Ceremony at St. Julia Billiart

On Friday October 9, 2017, the St. Julia Billiart school community celebrated a Thanksgiving Mass with Father Joseph Grima. Father Joseph is the newly-appointed Pastor of Blessed Frederic Ozanam in Markham.

Following the Mass, the school community moved outdoors and continued the Thanksgiving celebration with a tree planting ceremony. The ceremony was in honour of Canada’s 150th birthday celebration. The three trees were blessed by Father Joseph.

The tree planting was made possible thanks to a grant from the City of Markham’s Canada 150 celebration and lead by St Julia community parent member, Alan Lok. In attendance, along with St Julia’s students and staff were Ward Councillor, Colin Campbell and members of the school’s parent community. The school also thanks Tree Valley Nurseries for supplying and planting the trees.
