Congratulations to the YES I CAN Award Winners

This year, the annual ‘Yes I Can’ Awards Ceremony took place at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic High School in Aurora on May 23rd, 2018. The ceremony acknowledged the achievements of students with identified needs such as physical disabilities, learning disabilities, autism and developmental disabilities. The awards include student accomplishments in the areas of community service, work experience, academics, arts, athletics, and life skill development. Over 100 students and 5 adults from the York Catholic District School Board were recognized at the ceremony, which had approximately 800 family members, friends and educators in the audience.

Among the recipients were:

Academic Award: Kurt Quimoyog (student from St. Cecilia)
Parent Award: Ms. Forres-Walker
Paraprofessional Award: Marilena Iaboni (Educational Assistant Hearing Centre at Divine Mercy)
Teacher of the Year: Sarah Holding (Special Education Teacher at St. Robert Catholic High School)
Educational Leader of the Year: Michelle Kim (Special Education Department Head at Jean Vanier Catholic High School)
President’s Award: Richard Miraglia​ (Student Services Behaviour Resource Supervisor)

We wish to extend heartfelt congratulations to all our most deserving student and adult winners. It was a memorable evening filled with smiles – everyone has so much to be proud of.
