Additional Qualification (AQ) Courses

As of June 2011, the York Catholic District School Board is an approved provider of accredited Additional Qualification courses for Ontario teachers. The courses are open to all teachers registered with the College who meet the registration requirements.

ACCREDITED AQ COURSES OFFERED:

 

Special Education Part I
Special Education Part II
Special Education Specialist
Special Education for Administrators
Kindergarten Part I
Use & Knowledge of Assistive Technology

COURSE INFORMATION:

Additional Qualifications course schedules will reflect a minimum 125 hours, of which at least 100 hours is instructional contact time, involving instructors with candidates. The remaining 25 hours of instruction will be documented, highlighting course work such as assignments, reading, research etc.

All courses will adhere to the following schedule:
Fall: September - December
Winter: January - March
Spring: April - June
Face to Face:
Additional Qualifications course schedules will reflect a minimum 125 hours. Face to face instruction constitutes 100 hours and the remaining 25 hours of instruction will be accounted for through course assignments, reading and/or research.
17 weeknights (5:00 - 9:00 pm)
4 Saturdays (8:30 am - 5:00 pm)
(includes 1/2 hour lunch)
25 hours independent study

 

COURSE FEES:

• $650
• If a course text is required, fee is extra

PAYMENT: Submit a completed application accompanied by a $650.00 cheque payable to York Catholic District School Board.

Non-YCDSB Employees please provide a certified cheque or money order.
