June is Italian Heritage Month

The York Catholic District School Board is proud to recognize June as Italian Heritage Month. The month recognizes the contributions that Italian-Canadians have made to the country.

Congratulations to Trustee Dominic Mazzotta, Trustee for Richmond Hill, on being recognized for his support of Italian Language Programming at the Centro Scuola's Annual Italy-Amo Gala, which was held on June 4, 2017.

Congratulations to St. Padre Pio students: Alexandra. W (Gr.7), Marcello. M (Gr.7), Alessia. P (Gr.5)., Brianna. C (Gr.7)., Isabella. D (Gr.7), Andrew. G (Gr.7)., Stefania. C (Gr.7), Joseph. R (Gr.6)., and Michael. R (Gr.7). These students were chosen as finalists in the Italian Literary Contest endorsed by Centro Scuola. Students from various boards had the opportunity to submit a piece of writing describing the experience of Italian immigrants and how Italian Canadians contributed to Canada's cultural, social, and political growth.

Centro Scuola promotes the teaching of the Italian language and culture within our communities. York Catholic District School Board is proud to work in partnership with Centro Scuola e Cultura Italiana so that our students can receive enriching, cultural experiences.
