Thornhill students help divert 5,000 plastic bags out of landfills

St. Rene Goupil – St. Luke CES in Thornhill joined schools from across Canada in participating in Walmart's Plastic Grab Bag Challenge. Together with its school community, St. Rene Goupil – St. Luke CES collected almost 5,000 plastic bags that will be recycled into pellets and made into everyday items such as furniture, clothing, or household items.

"We are extremely proud of our school's efforts in diverting these bags from landfills and making our future brighter as a result," said Patricia Catenacci, Principal. "Thanks to all of our awesome students who counted the bags daily and always with much eagerness and excitement!"

Students at the school also created a short stop motion video showing some of the bags they collected.
