Passages Canada Speaker, Sang Kim visits St. Padre Pio CES

This spring, Grades 5-8 students at St. Padre Pio CES enjoyed a presentation by award-winning fiction writer, playwright, and restaurateur, Sang Kim, who spoke about the Passages Canada program.

Kim shared details of his life experiences and struggles that he faced as a young immigrant from South Korea. His emphasized that students should listen to the stories of their parents and grandparents and try to return to the fountain that marks their heritage. For only then can they move forward and contribute to what we know as Canada today. On behalf of the students, teachers and school community, St. Padre Pio thanks Sang Kim for visiting St. Padre Pio and volunteering his time to the Passages Canada program.

Kim's presentation was the culminating event after a week where the St. Padre Pio school community celebrated Canada 150 and all that is Canadian from early Confederation to the fabric of what makes Canada work today. Students also presented their original play called, 'The Maple Leaf Forever,' as part of the school's Canada 150 celebrations.
