At St. Justin, Martyr Catholic Elementary School, students know the importance of Ontario’s hospitals, and each year they work tirelessly and creatively to raise money for Markham-Stouffville Hospital, a hospital that is in their own community. To date, St. Justin students have raised an astonishing $63,000, making them the top participating and contributing school every year they’ve taken part!
This year, on April 14, St. Justin students once again joined the 5K Legacy Run/Walk, a community walk with proceeds benefitting patients in the hospital’s Maternal/Child unit, which provides specialized care to mothers, newborn babies and pediatric patients. This year, the donations collected from St. Justin will support the neonatal intensive care unit to ensure more newborns receive access to intensive care, close to home.
“We are thrilled to announce our school’s success in the Markham-Stouffville Hospital’s Legacy Run, on a beautiful sunny day,” said St. Justin, Martyr CES principal Susan Knetsch. “What a wonderful community event!"
This year, along with St. Justin staff and students, York Catholic’s Associate Director and former St. Justin principal, Patricia Preston eagerly participated in the walk.
Inspired by Jesus, York Catholic students work hard to help others in need throughout their own communities, Canada and internationally.
