Information Systems

The Superintendent of Information Systems is responsible for providing strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation, and coordination of the Information Systems Department. Specific responsibilities include establishing the overall vision, strategic direction, technical standards, implementation planning and ongoing enterprise-wide coordination for Information Technology.

The Operations and Technical Support staff provide technical support for computer systems and services within and related to schools and the CEC offices. Key duties include Call Centre support, installation, configuration, operation and troubleshooting of workstations, and peripherals, with all the software required for the use of that equipment by students, teachers and administrative staff.

The Network and Infrastructure Support staff, provide support for all network segments including wide area networks (WANs), local area, networks (LANs), wireless networks (WLANs), and remote access. NIS is responsible for the planning, installation, operation, support, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the YCDSB communications network. NIS provides high speed data, video, control and monitoring communications services. In addition, NIS is responsible for providing a set of board-wide network services (e.g. electronic mail and LDAP) and other information services as well as their planning, installation, operation, support, maintenance, and continuous improvement.

The Software, Database & Web Application Team supports all lifecycle phases of software engineering including requirements analysis, software and interface design, software development, systems integration, certification and accreditation, and software configuration management.

The SDWA team also provides project management, training, design data warehouse architecture, decision support reporting capabilities, and develop or support enterprise server solutions to align with our strategic visions and goals.
