To enroll in an e-course, students must first be enrolled in a YCDSB high school. As part of the application process, students receive input from their guidance counselor and must secure permission (i.e., signatures) from their parent/guardian (if under 18 years of age) and the principal at their home school. As a guideline, the home school Principal will consider:
• whether the course is offered (and space is available) at the student’s home school;
• whether the course is a graduation requirement for the student; and/or,
• special circumstances (e.g., illness, the degree to which traditional classroom environments present challenges)
Other considerations include:
• the degree to which the student possess the traits (or habits) of many successful e-learners;
• the presence of timetable conflicts; and/or,
• the student’s grade.

HOW WILL I KNOW IF I'M ENROLLED IN AN e-COURSE?
---
Following submission of the application, students are informed by the Board's e-Learning lead about their status. You'll receive a “Notice of Enrolment” when you've been registered in an e-course. It is an expectation that students will attend a mandatory orientation session in order to become familiar with the policies, practices, and the various communication and other tools in their e-course.
NOTE – To reduce the potential for technical problems during the application process and when accessing your course, ensure that: 1) the pop-up blocker is disabled in your browser; 2) security settings do not prevent access to specific sites; and, 3) ycdsb.ca, elearning@ycdsb.ca and ycdsb.elearningontario.ca are allowed domain names in your e-mail/junk mail spam filter. |
WHEN DO e-CLASSES BEGIN?
---
There are two intake dates for e-courses – one at the beginning of each semester and another one week later. Regardless of the start date, students must participate in an orientation session and complete all course work by the end of the semester.
