In order to address the growing need for mental health supports for students, Cardinal Carter C.H.S. and Sacred Heart C.H.S. will be hosting a Regional Summit for Mental Health on Thursday, February 15.  The Summit will consist of a daytime event for approximately 120 Cardinal Carter and Sacred Heart students and an information evening for YCDSB parents and employees.  We look forward to hearing from a number of mental health advocates, professionals and community organizations such as Jack.org, the Canadian Mental Health Association, the York Regional Police Youth Mental Health Group, Art Not Shame and Bell Lets Talk. The keynote speakers are Leah Parsons, mother of Rehtaeh Parsons, a Canadian teen who died by suicide in 2013, and Sam Fiorella, co-founder of Yellow is for Hello. Organizers feel this summit will be a timely and impactful event for our students, parents and staff and it is our hope to bring much needed awareness, helpful strategies and resources to our York Catholic District School Board community.
