St. Stephen swimmer wins four gold medals at Can Am Para Championship

The York Catholic District School Board congratulates Matthew C. a Grade 7 student at St. Stephen CES in Woodbridge, on his performance at the Can Am Para Long Course Swimming Championship in Edmonton, Alberta in December.

Matthew won four gold medals in the S11 Category. He was crowned the 100 meter freestyle, 100 meter breaststroke, 100 meter backstroke, and the 50 meter free style champion. He was also the youngest swimmer competing amongst athletes from Canada, the US, Brazil, France and South Korea.

Matthew has been swimming with the Cobra Swim Club in Brampton for the last four years. After losing his sight he continued to swim competitively with the support of great coaches.
