YCDSB now taking nominations for its 2017 Distinguished Alumni campaign

The York Catholic District School Board is accepting nominations for its annual Distinguished Alumni campaign, which features graduates from its secondary schools who have met a high level of success in their chosen careers or who have made valuable and unique contributions to society.

The campaign, which will be rolled out in May, includes profiles of each “Distinguished Alumni” on posters which are sent to Catholic schools and parishes across York Region. Past recipients of this honour include: Toronto Maple Leafs Defenceman, Frank Corrado; Artistic Director and recipient of the Siminovitch Prize, Chris Abraham; former Degrassi: The Next Generation and Being Erica Actress, Paula Brancati; and Breakfast Television Co-Host, Dina Pugliese.

“Our Board, teachers, administrators, and school communities are extremely proud of our York Catholic graduates who serve as a great source of inspiration for our current students and staff,” says Patricia Preston, Director of Education. “We are appealing to the public to share with us information about York Catholic alumni who are doing great work and making a positive difference in our world. If you know someone whom you feel would make a great Distinguished Alumni, please nominate them for this honour.”

Selection of the candidates will be based on the following criteria:
• All candidates must have completed high school at a York Catholic school.
• All candidates must possess a minimum of two years work experience in their field.
• All candidates should have made/ be making valuable and unique contributions in their respective careers and communities, reflecting Catholic Values

The deadline to submit a nomination is February 28, 2017.
