Newmarket student selected as the 2017 Cops for Cancer Child Ambassador

Gabriel B. in Mrs. Sprogis' Grade 3 class at Canadian Martyrs CES in Newmarket was selected by York Regional Police as the 2017 Cops for Cancer Child Ambassador.

On February 14, 2017, York Regional Police Officers Michael Boris, Paulo DaSilva, Karen Richards, Susan Gibbs, and the YRP Mascot/Superhero, UNITED visited Canadian Martyrs to announce that Gabriel is the Cops for Cancer Child Ambassador.

The event was an informal meet and greet for students. YRP handed out colouring books, pins, and keychains to the children, and Gabriel was photographed for a Cops for Cancer promotion. Students at the Newmarket school enjoyed meeting the YRP superhero, UNITED, and exploring a police cruiser that was parked outside.

Cops for Cancer raises money for childhood cancer and is sponsored by the Canadian Cancer Society.
