St. Maximilian Kolbe student makes the cut

final hairstyles displayed on mannequin headsOn Wednesday March 11, St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic High School hosted the York Catholic District School Board’s annual Hairstyling Skills Competition, which is a pre-qualifier for the upcoming Ontario Technological Skills Competition.

Each student-hairdresser had to complete in three categories: the Men's “Bombage” haircut, the Women's Trendy Cut and Style, and the Women's Long Hair Up-Do. Using mannequin heads, the student cut, coloured and styled under considerable pressure with limited time.

Adam Barry and Jordan Forhan from St. Maximilian Kolbe CHS in Aurora placed first and second, respectively. Julia Chimenti from Holy Cross CA in Woodbridge placed third.

As the first-place winner, Adam made the cut to represent our Board at the provincial skills competition taking place on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Rim Park in Waterloo.

The Board congratulates all students who competed in the competition and wishes Adam the best of luck in Waterloo.
