June 25th was Day 26 of the 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Torch Relay. On this day, the torch relay began at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Elementary School in Richmond Hill. Students and staff gathered in the school’s gym and Pachi the official mascot for the games helped to start the day off on a great note.
Student Elyssa Pullella represented the school well as a torchbearer. Elyssa is an outstanding student leader -- academically, spiritually and socially. She demonstrates compassion for others through her dedication to faith and social justice initiatives in the school community and beyond. She participates in numerous extracurricular activities and continues to achieve outstanding academic success across all subject areas. Elyssa completed her duties as torchbearer with enthusiasm, respect, and passion.
The torch relay provides a powerful opportunity for the community to feel the emotion, excitement and significance of the Pan Am flame and its journey en route to lighting the cauldron at the opening ceremony on July 10, 2015.
Another Richmond Hill School, Our Lady of the Annunciation CES also caught the Pan Am spirit on Day 26 of the torch relay as Physical Education Teacher, Pamela Heinrich also acted as a torch bearer!
