In York Catholic District School Board, the children enter Junior Kindergarten in small groups during the first 2 weeks of September. This is called “Staggered Entry” and is designed to help children begin school in the best possible way.
Parents receive a letter in June containing detailed information about this process.
One of the following programs will be offered at your local school:
- Full Day / Alternate Day: these children will have completed Staggered Entry in two weeks
- Half Day / Every Day: these children will have completed Staggered Entry in one week
- Full Day/Every Day: these children will have completed Staggered Entry in one week
All children will be following the regular Junior Kindergarten schedule by the third week of school.
