The York Catholic District School Board has approved a motion to begin an Accommodation Review for the Thornhill area that will involve the following Catholic elementary schools: St. Anthony, St. Michael Catholic Academy and St. Rene Goupil-St. Luke.

The Ministry of Education ’s Pupil Accommodation Review Guidelines indicate that when a group of area schools may be in need of significant repairs and/or face enrolment or programming challenges -- that these schools may be considered for an Accommodation Review. This Review may include consideration of a variety of options, including possible boundary changes and/or school facility consolidations.

The process is expected to take at least one year to complete. It is anticipated that any accommodation changes would begin to be implemented in the 2010-11 school year – to allow time to complete the process, including extensive consultation and any transitional planning that may be required.

The goal of the Review is to arrive at recommendations to the Board that will make the best use of our facilities and resources, while maintaining and enhancing the provision of high quality learning envrionments and superior programming for all students.
