St. Brother Andre Catholic High School students win TADA skills competition second year in a row

YCDSB congratulates Christopher Giuga and David Vecchiarelli, students from St. Brother Andre Catholic High School in Markham on their recent team win at the TADA skills competition.

The two SBA automotive technician students prevailed over 17 other Toronto-area high school teams to win a high-octane skills competition at the Canadian International Auto Show on February 15, 2018.

Christopher and David performed a number of timed technical tasks and worked on a new Volkswagen Tiguan that had been rigged with a no-start condition by automotive instructors from Centennial College. It’s the second consecutive year that a team from St. Brother Andre CHS won the trophy! Last year, SBA students, Ryan Gullage and Michael Lamanna placed first.

By finishing first, Christopher and David will represent Canada at the National Automotive Technology Competition in New York City in April. In addition to the all-expenses-paid trip, the students received tools and equipment from the competition sponsors. The students also earned their school’s automotive lab a donated vehicle from General Motors Canada for training purposes, so all auto tech students at SBA can benefit. Great job!
