Cardinal Carter’s Jack.org Chapter and Catholic School Council have teamed up to organize a Mental Health Summit that will address the growing need for mental health supports for youth. The Summit will take place across from the Aurora school at the YCDSB Catholic Education Centre on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
The Summit will consist of an information evening for all York Catholic parents and their intermediate-senior aged children, as well as Board employees. A number of mental health advocates, professionals and community organizations such as the Canadian Mental Health Association, the York Regional Police Youth Mental Health Group, Art Not Shame and York Region Public Health will contribute to the summit.
Sam Fiorella, Co-Founder of The Friendship Bench (#yellowisforhello) and father of Lucas Fiorella who died by suicide in 2014 will be the keynote speaker.
Organizers including Cardinal Carter Teachers, Lisa Craveiro, Natalie Rovere and Lisa DeCastro, feel this summit will be a timely and impactful event for students, parents and staff and it is their hope that it will bring awareness, helpful strategies and resources to the community.
The YCDSB Catholic Education Centre is located at 320 Bloomington Road West in Aurora, ON.
