Mexican students integrated into OLG classes as part of cultural exchange

Our Lady of Grace Catholic Elementary School in Aurora is hosting 14 students and three staff members from three different schools in Mexico City as part of a cultural experience for the guests about Canada and our school system. Our Lady of Grace CES partnered with Red Leaf for this initiative.

The Mexican students have been integrated into some of the Grade 4 – Grade 8 classes during their two-week stay. The Mexican students are buddied up with some of the OLG students, quickly making friends as the Aurora students showcase what they love about their school and explain their classwork and curriculum. In turn, the OLG students are learning new things about Mexico and the lives of their visiting friends.

The Mexican guests also had the chance to get involved with many classroom learning activities, the school’s ShareLife Basket/Cake Raffle, the Stations of the Cross, You’re the Chef Program, as well as school clubs including Lego, Knitting, Skipping, and Sports Stacking. They also enjoyed a presentation by CrimeStoppers and met MP Kyle Peterson. A special farewell party to mark the end of their stay will take place on April 26th. Bienvenido!
