St. Gregory the Great graduate ‘pays it forward’

Jonathan Soriano, a 2010 alumnus from St. Gregory the Great Catholic Academy in Woodbridge was an honoured speaker at the school’s 2019 graduation ceremony on June 25th. His address to students, staff and guests was on the power of perseverance, and the lasting legacy of care and support that his York Catholic teachers provided nearly a decade ago.

Soriano recently completed an Honours Specialization in Global Economics and a Masters in Economics from the University of Western Ontario in London. Having completed these studies, he generously decided to show his appreciation by “paying it forward”, matching funds he earned in a program scholarship and presenting a cheque for $2,000 to benefit student life at St. Gregory the Great CA.

The York Catholic District School Board, and particularly Soriano’s former teachers were inspired and proud at this example of leadership and inclusion. They thank Soriano for his generous donation which will go towards enhancing curriculum in a variety of classrooms at St. Gregory the Great CA.

Many thanks, Jonathan! We wish you all the best in continuing your advanced studies, and achieving your goal of lecturing in economics.
