We have been fortunate in that so far we have only had a few days of extreme cold – however the unfortunate part is many students do not come properly dressed for the cold. Parents are reminded to ensure that your child comes to school dressed appropriately. We will be having indoor routines when the temperature (with or without a wind chill) is minus 20 degrees Celsius or colder. If it is minus 18 or 19 degrees they will only go out for no more than 20 minutes. The children will be going outside for recess on every other day, unless the administration or teacher in charge decides to keep students in because they feel that conditions are unhealthy for them. Wearing boots, hats, mitts and scarves along with dressing in layers is highly recommended every day. It is advisable that you provide your child with extra socks and mittens to replace wet ones. It is also a good idea to put your child’s name on each item.
