This weekend we will celebrate Thanksgiving.
Let us listen to this Thanksgiving prayer written by Sophia P when she was a Grade 5 student at St. Michael Catholic Academy.

“Dear God,
During Thanksgiving we give thanks for all the  gifts given to us. I thought I should tell you what I’m thankful for.

Well, I am thankful that I can go into a building and walk out not  worried someone would judge me because of race or religion. I am thankful for when I’m sad I know you have a path. I am thankful for my health that I can walk out of the doctor’s office with a smile. I can’t forget about my friends who have shown me happiness when I was sad. It’s also definitely a blessing that I can walk out of a grocery store with more than I need and still have money in my pocket.

I know that one big blessing of mine is that when I grow up I can choose my journey and not be forced. I’m surely thankful for You, who has blessed me with a life and my family. Well, let me just say I wouldn’t be living the way I am  without them.

I’m thankful that I can say “ I want” to something I don’t really need and that my biggest worry is getting to school on time. I am especially thankful that even though I am a girl I can have an education.

Thank you Lord for all these blessings that shape who I am and who I will become.   Amen.”

Let us close our prayer with the Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women and Blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus,
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now
and at the hour of our death. Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
