Namesake

Our School is named after the well-known author of works on spirituality, Father Henri Nouwen.

Even as a young child in the Netherlands, Henri wanted to become a priest. His dream came true in 1957, when he was ordained.

Father Henri Nouwen studied Theology, Psychology and Psychiatry. He became a teacher at Notre Dame and a professor at Yale and Harvard Universities. He wrote over 40 books about our spirituality and about our relationship with God. Many people admired his work, and he traveled aroundthe world, speaking, writing and teaching.

He was a priest who understood the issues affecting ordinary people. He emphasized the importance of caring for one another and said that we are responsible for every one in our community, not just for ourselves.
