Culturally Responsive and Relevant Pedagogy Pillar

“Canadian children are fortunate to be living in a country marked by social, cultural and civil realities that can potentially have a positive influence on their human maturation and religious / faith formation.” Institute for Catholic Education, 2012

The goals of the Culturally Responsive and Relevant Pedagogy (CRRP) Steering Committee are to increase awareness and competence of classroom practices which lead to culturally responsive classrooms, to develop professional learning for instructional staff that is informed by relevant research, and to examine processes of schooling which need to be intentionally interrupted and changed. Among the priorities for this committee include a project to develop a toolkit that will help educators in our system identify and vet resources that are accessible, reflect diversity, and conducive to facilitating meaningful learning experiences for our students.
