Earth Day

April 22, 2020

Good Evening Parents / Guardians,

I hope this email finds you all in good health.  It is difficult to believe that we have been away from our school building for 40 days!  It feels that most students and teachers are into a routine as we enter into Week 3 of Distance Learning and there are many innovative ways of teaching the curriculum and engaging students happening in our Google Classrooms.  Having spoken to many families, my staff and I realize that this unique process has taken some time for many and understandably so.  Please know that you have our undeniable support and we are here to help fully realize that this has not been a one size fits all approach.  I know that keeping connections with our students/your children is of the utmost importance to my staff and I and we will accommodate however and whenever needed.

I would encourage you to follow us on twitter at @LOC_YCDSB to stay connected with the entire school community.  Today was Earth Day and we at LOC would like to see ways in which you have/are/will engage in any family activities at home pertaining to ways in which we are protecting our Earth.  This week, I invite students to share photos of God’s beautiful earthly creations.  I encourage you to show simple ways you are protecting the earth such as recycling, planting at home, conserving electricity, riding and bicycle around your home among other creative ways.  If you would like to show some wonderful ways your family are protecting our planet, please email me at: franco.dimarco@ycdsb.ca and I will definitely include on Twitter.

A reminder if you are experiencing any difficulty with your device or navigating through Google Classroom you may put in a ‘ticket’ at http://help.ycdsb.ca/vle.  Someone from our IT or Curriculum Department will be in touch.

I also encourage students to visit Ms. Pellegrino’s Library Site for links to math games, language games and an e-library.  Also, on the site are links to coding activities, STREAM challenges, typing programs and virtual museums. The Library Site link is:  https://sites.google.com/ycdsb.ca/loclibrarylearningcommons/home

As always, your teachers and I remain available to assist if necessary.  Please email me if you have any questions or concerns at franco.dimarco@ycdsb.ca

Never forget your Faith, Family, Friends

Be safe.

Sincerely,

Mr. Franco Di Marco
