Happy Halloween

Our Lady of the Annunciation School staff and students are looking forward to celebrating Halloween on Monday, October 31st by participating in the Spook-a-thon organized by our wonderful Catholic School Council.  Please be advised that the CSC will be offering a slice of pizza to all students on Monday as a thank you for their participation in the fundraising event.  A reminder that all pledge forms and money should be returned to school on October 31. All the money raised will go directly back to the students through the purchase of technology and program enhancing activities like Scientist in the School Program.  Further information will follow once totals have been calculated and prize winners have been established.

Parents are invited to attend. The dance times are as follows:

  • 9:15am – 9:45am – JK/SK and OLA Childcare
  • 9:45am – 10:30am – Grades 1-3
  • 10:45am – 12:00pm – Grades 4-6
  • 1:00pm – 3:15pm – Grades 7-8

Students wearing costumes to school must follow the YCDSB Safe Schools Policy.  No replica weapons (ex. swords, guns, etc) should be brought to school if they are part of the costume.  We also ask that students not wear masks to ensure that they can see clearly.

Many of our students will enjoy treats over the next few weeks.  As always, we wish to promote healthy eating at our school, and discourage students from bringing candies to school.  Many candies and treats, especially the small chocolate bars that the children receive during Trick or Treating contain peanuts and other nuts.  These are great to enjoy at home.  Given the variety of allergies we have throughout our building, we would ask all families to continue to be vigilant when selecting which snacks to bring to school.  It is also important that students don’t trade snacks with each other.  We do ask that no food be sent into the school from families (ex. cupcakes for a classroom to celebrate the day).

Your continued support of student safety is greatly appreciated.

A few additional reminders for the week

Wishing your family a fun-filled Halloween!
