Our Christmas Food Drive is running until December 21st, with all proceeds going to the Georgina Food Pantry. The Pantry gets seriously depleted during the Christmas Season, so any donations will be much appreciated. Ms. Gilligan’s grade 1 class will be doing a class trip in January to the Pantry to deliver the items.
The Prince of Peace School Community will be marking Remembrance Day on Thursday, November 8th with a ceremony at 1:00 pm. Parents are welcome to attend. We welcome our special guests from the Royal Canadian Legion, who will help us mark this very important 100th Anniversary of the end of World War I.
Each year, the Catholic School Council undertakes fundraising initiatives to raise money for school activities and materials to enrich our students’ experiences and learning. This year’s fundraising drive, themed “Survive the Christmas Rush” involves sales of poinsettias, cookie dough, stocking stuffers from QSP, or through the Prince of Peace Direct Donation Campaign. On Wednesday, October 31st, we are having a Hallowe’en Dance Spook-tacular! We anticipate a day of fun and festivities with costumes and cool dance moves! We will be using the event as an opportunity to raise funds for Share Life, a Catholic Charity. We ask each student to bring a toonie to support this important charity. Wednesday, October 24th is Ontario Dress Purple Day at the York Catholic District School Board.
Dress Purple Day focuses on raising awareness about every child and youth’s right to safety and well-being in all places.
At Prince of Peace, Purple is our main Spirit Colour, so all are invited to wear purple spirit wear to mark the day.
The Luke 4:18 Committee at Prince of Peace is collecting food items for the Georgina Food Pantry the week before Thanksgiving, October 1st to 5th.
