York Catholic to accept registrations for elementary students and assessments for secondary students who are new to Canada during the summer

Although school offices will be closed, services will be offered at the Board’s head office.

The York Catholic District School Board, which is one of the top-performing school boards in the province, welcomes new students for the 2019-2020 school year!  Registrations for students entering elementary school, as well as assessments for secondary students who are new to Canada, will take place at the Board’s head office, the Catholic Education Centre during the summer. Elementary schools will be closed from July 2nd to August 23rd. Secondary schools will be closed from July 15th to August 16th.

The Board’s Admissions Department will accept registrations for Kindergarten – Grade 8 students, Mondays to Thursdays, from July 8th to August 22nd, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Children born in 2015 are eligible for Junior Kindergarten, while children born in 2014 are eligible for Senior Kindergarten.

Parents/Guardians will need to bring the following documentation to register their child/children:

  • Roman Catholic Baptismal Certificate (for child or parent)
  • Proof of Age
  • Proof of Status in Canada
  • Proof of Residency (Property Tax Bill or Proof of Purchase or Lease/Rental Agreement and Utility Bill or Phone Bill)
  • Proof of English Separate School Support, such as a property tax bill or MPAC Property Assessment Notice (school support forms can be provided, if necessary)

When:   July 8 – August 22, Monday – Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Assessments for secondary students who are new to Canada need to be completed before a student can register for high school. Appointments for assessments can be booked for July 31st to August 30th by calling the Board’s head office. Registrations for all secondary students will take place at local Catholic high schools starting Monday, August 19th. Complete the registration forms in advance of visiting the school and gather the necessary documentation indicated on the forms.  The forms can be found on the Admissions and Registrations link under “Secondary (9-12) Admission Procedure”.  Please note, St. Theresa of Lisieux is at capacity and is not taking registrations at this time; Jean Vanier is taking the overflow registrations from St. Theresa.
