Chair’s Message

Elizabeth CroweWe have so much to be proud of at the York Catholic District School Board, where exciting initiatives such as 21st Century Learning and our Mental Health Strategy are enabling us to better serve the needs of our students.

We value our position as one of the top performing school boards in the province of Ontario and are committed to inspiring our students to achieve, succeed and to become faith-filled Catholic graduates who will make positive contributions to our world.

In the past, we have been faced with rapid growth and the need for new schools and staff, but the next few years bring new challenges as our population ages and school enrollment declines.  We will be required to plan for continued funding shortfalls as the province struggles to manage its own budget and will need to be vigilant in ensuring that our guiding principles are met:

  • Catholic values must permeate our system;
  • We must provide safe, healthy learning and working environments;
  • Program delivery must support the unique needs of each child;
  • We must follow sound financial management and planning;
  • We will strengthen our bonds with home and church.

As we embark on our future, we will nurture and strengthen relationships with all of our partners. Our dedicated staff, parents, parish priests, school councils and student leaders are all valued stakeholders in the success of York Catholic District School Board and we are thankful for their many contributions.

We welcome your engagement in our school system.  If you have suggestions or concerns you would like to share, please visit our Meet Your Trustee section and communicate with us.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth Crowe
