Scholastic Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair was a great success thanks to our school community. We sold close to $3000.00 in product. This allows us to purchase $1000.00 in Scholastic product for our Library. Thank you for supporting this event and for promoting reading in our school. The next Book Fair will be in May 2016 during Education Week.

RAZ Kids

Students in the primary grades have been able to continue their access to RAZ-Kids. This is an online guided reading program with interactive ebooks, downloadable books, and reading quizzes. Primary teachers will continue to use this program in school and may send the information home. If you have not had opportunity to view or use this program at home, ask your child or their teacher for the Teacher User Name. This year some students will have passwords as they are now introducing passwords as part of the login process for students.

Prodigy Math

Prodigy Math is being supported again by our Board. Your child may be using this program with their class or can sign on independently at home. The game may ask parents if they wish to purchase upgrades or tokens; parents can make this decision as they wish. The program is available on the Prodigy website.

Forest of Reading

With the generous support of our Parent Council we will again be part of the forest of Reading Program. Primary students will be introduced to the Blue Spruce Program in January.

The Hour of Code

In celebration of Computer Science Education Week during the weeks of December 5-11, students will be invited to participate in the Hour of Code.

the hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics. The goal is not to teach anybody to become an expert computer scientist. One hour is only enough to learn that computer science is fun and creative, that it is accessible at all ages, for all students, regardless of background. This event is based on the belief that every student should have the opportunity to learn computer science. It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any 21st-century career path.
