October 1st is Orange Shirt Day

OrangPicturee Shirt Day was inspired by the experience of Phyllis Webstad whose shiny orange shirt was taken away from her first day of school when she was only 6 years old at residential school.  It has become an opportunity to keep the discussion on all aspects of residential schools happening annually.

Orange Shirt Day is also an opportunity for in our YCDSB schools Indigenous and non-Indigenous students and staff to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.

Students at St. Gabriel the Archangel may choose to wear an orange shirt or an orange accessory (orange necklace, bracelet, hair tie etc.) over the top of their uniform.
