November Trustee Corner

The school year is off to a wonderful start.   The students are involved in many exciting activities and events – many of which I hope to attend.

As we approach Remembrance Day, we remember our fallen soldiers and pay tribute to veterans who served and are still with us today. It is our obligation to recall and reflect on their sacrifice. Together let us pray for peace, freedom and tolerance.

I would like to highlight a few upcoming events:

I would like to extend an invitation to all parents to our Annual Literacy and Numeracy Workshop. Together with my Trustee colleague, Cathy Ferlisi, we have organized two workshops taking place on Thursday, November 19th~at 6:30 p.m. at St. Cecilia CES (300 Peter Rupert Ave.).~ One workshop is geared for parents of students 3-6 years of age, and the other workshop is geared to parents of students in grades 6-8.~ The workshops are FREE, interactive and informative.~ Contact your local school to register.

Parents of children in SK are invited to attend the French Immersion information night on Wed. Nov. 18th at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Elementary School (301 Barhill Rd). The session begins at 7:00 p.m.

Sunday, November 22th is the annual Santafest Parade.  I am looking forward to seeing our schools’ participation in this wonderful event.  The Parade starts at 2:00 pm starting at Jane St. and Major Mackenzie to Keele St.  For more information, visit  Please come out and enjoy the parade.

Parents of Grade 8 students are invited to St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School Open House for the Regular Program and the Advanced Placement Program on Tuesday November 24th at 7:00pm. This is an excellent opportunity to tour the school, learn about the program offerings at St. Joan of Arc CHS and speak to staff and students.

May the Holy Spirit guide your children in appreciating the love of Jesus Christ.
