Black History Month / Duane Gibson Presentation

The month of February is recognized throughout Canada as a time to celebrate the sacrifices and contributions of Black Canadians. Throughout February, students will participate in a variety of discussions and grade-level lessons that focus on diversity and equality. As well, on Tuesday, February 4th we welcome Duane Gibson to our school for his Stay Driven performance. Some information about Duane Gibson:  He is a Guinness World Record setting rapper and university graduate  He is fifth generation Black Canadian and will be sharing stories of Black Canadian History  He performed a European tour in England and the Netherlands and has attended the Grammy’s for the third time  Two of his songs: I Stand Up and Black Canadian have been featured on muchmusic and can be found on Youtube There will be two assemblies: Gr. 5-8 @ 9:15 to 10:15 am and FDK to Gr. 4 @ 10:45 –11:30 am. All parents are welcome to attend!
