About YCDSB

Serving one of the fastest growing areas in North America, the York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) operates in the regional municipality of York, located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). York Region offers a friendly, diverse and secure environment for students, making it the ideal location to focus on studies and personal growth. York Region offers easy access to many cultural and recreational opportunities, a comprehensive transit system, lots of green space, and countless amenities. While we are close to the vibrant and global city of Toronto, York Region still offers the comfort, space, and community feel of suburban living.

With 86 elementary and 17 secondary schools across the region’s nine municipalities, (Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, Markham, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Whitchurch-Stouffville, and King Township), the YCDSB works to support and inspire our approximately 50,000 students and their families through an innovative curriculum of Catholic Education rooted in Gospel values.

As one of the top-performing school boards in Ontario, our more than 5,000 dedicated instructional staff are committed to building a strong community of lifelong learners, guided by a commitment to critical thinking, inclusion, and active social responsibility. The YCDSB has demonstrated strong student achievement across various metrics, consistently outperforming provincial averages. Our schools show high proficiency in standardized assessments, including the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) and the EQAO Assessments for grades 3, 6, and 9, in reading, writing, and mathematics. Additionally, YCDSB routinely leads the province in graduation rates, and amongst our six schools with ESL centres, over 85% of students matriculate into a 4-year university program.
