Secondary School Chaplaincy

Secondary School Chaplaincy

We partners in Catholic Education have inherited a wonderful gift in this province.

The Catholic School system in Ontario enables us to evangelize, to exercise the ministry of teaching in fulfillment of a mission entrusted to us by the Lord.

– Bishop Richard Greco, ICE Symposium, 2002.

School chaplaincy is a work of pastoral ministry carried out within the school community.
At York Catholic, we recognize the importance of the Chaplaincy Team in the spiritual care and nurturing of all members of the Catholic Secondary School Community. Our Chaplaincy Teams, working in harmony with all partners – parish, home and school – have a pivotal role to play in sustaining our vision of Catholic education and in helping York Catholic students become disciples of Jesus Christ.

Catechesis in York Catholic Schools strives to appreciate and respect the spiritual situation of the members of our Catholic school communities and it organizes activities in order to effectively continue the mission of Christ and to more emphatically state “stand up, take heart, he is calling you.” We are living partners in the catechesis of our students.
