Religious Education
York Catholic District School Board uses Growing in Faith, Growing in Christ, for Grades K to 8, the approved resource by the Catholic Bishops of Ontario and based on the Ontario Catholic School Kindergarten Program and the Elementary Religious Education Curriculum, Grades 1-8, and organized to follow the sequence of the liturgical year of the Catholic Church. It reflects the content of faith expressed in the Catechism of the Catholic Church and follows the rationale and methodology of the General Directory for Catechesis.
Growing in Faith, Growing in Christ features a Student-Home Website with videos, songs, bible stories, prayers, interactive activities, and more—all designed for students and families to explore their faith together. Login information for YCDSB families is available through the classroom teacher.
Family Life Education
York Catholic District School Board uses Blessed & Beloved, the new Family Life Education program sponsored by the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario (ACBO) and based on the Family Life Education Curriculum, Grades 1 – 8.
As Blessed & Beloved continues to be published and implemented in elementary classrooms, the Fully Alive program, also sponsored by the ACBO, will be the approved resource for grades who have not yet received the new resource.
