OHL Star Returns to His Former YCDSB School

In the spirit of Catholic Education Week’s theme, “We are Called to Love,” St. Patrick Catholic Elementary School welcomed back one of its own, Frankie Marrelli, a cherished former student and Ontario Hockey League star. As he graced the halls once again, he brought with him a sense of admiration among students and staff alike.

Frankie attended St. Patrick CES from 2012 to 2020. His past teachers fondly noted that he was kind, committed, hardworking and had infectious positivity. He embodied humility and served as a role model for his peers. He is remembered as a student who was always willing to help others.

The atmosphere at St. Patrick’s CES on Frankie’s return was electric, brimming with excitement. Students and staff joined together to sing “O Canada,” offering prayers of gratitude and blessings for Frankie’s future endeavours. The school proudly celebrated his recent triumph: winning the Gold Medal for Team Canada U18 in Finland. Frankie answered questions from students and signed autographs.

In honouring Frankie Marrelli, St. Patrick CES celebrates his remarkable achievements and reaffirms its commitment to nurturing students who are called to love and serve others. Frankie’s journey serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration, reminding us all that with dedication, perseverance and love, anything is possible.

As Frankie prepares for the NHL Draft in June, in Las Vegas, the York Catholic DSB community stands behind him, offering support and well wishes for continued success. His journey from the halls of St. Patrick to the international stage exemplifies the power of dedication, hard work, and, above all, love.
