“It is not enough to love the young; they must know that they are loved.”
-St. John Bosco
Dear York Catholic District School Board families,
I am very excited that the 2025–26 school year will begin on Tuesday and I want to thank you for your ongoing support of Catholic education.
As the Director of Education, I witness every day how Catholic education is unique and has a profound impact on the lives of students. An example of this was last week when our principals and Senior Team members had the pleasure of celebrating Mass with Fr. Alvin Joys, Associate Pastor of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Woodbridge and a YCDSB graduate.
Fr. Alvin spoke eloquently from his own experience about the loving, nurturing and faith-filled spaces that are found in Catholic education. He is an excellent example of the truth that every student is capable of doing amazing things with their God-given gifts.
That is our mission at the York Catholic District School Board: to create a learning community where students feel welcomed, encouraged to do their best and given a mission to make the world a better place.
I hope this is an excellent school year for you and your family. YCDSB staff are excited to journey with your child this year as they grow into the person God has called them to be.
Yours in Catholic Education,
John De Faveri
Director of Education, Foundation Chair and Secretary of the Board
