Congratulations to Ayodele Bygrave on receiving a 2023 Community Appreciation Award, presented by the City of Markham Mayor, Frank Scarpitti.  Every year, the Markham African Caribbean Canadian Association (MACCA), in collaboration with the City of Markham, awards individuals of African/Caribbean heritage who have made tremendous positive contributions to the community.

Ayodele Bygrave is a well-respected teacher and an amazing role model to all students at Father Michael McGivney Catholic Academy.  She always demonstrates a great deal of integrity, a commitment to excellence and dedication to her students. 

Ayodele is an inspirational Physical Education teacher who constantly encourages her students to adopt healthy lifestyles.  She always gives generously of her time, goes above and beyond and coaches a various number of teams throughout the school year. She demonstrates the value of hard work, strong moral character and a commitment to excellence, which is inspiring to her students.  She initiates a number of projects and activities in her school and supports many charitable fundraisers.  She works tirelessly to encourage and mentor her students to be good servant leaders and citizens.  She is a beacon of energy, enthusiasm, and hope throughout her community.

Over the last two years, Ayodele has worked specifically with disadvantaged students as a Success Coach.  She has not only developed a supportive, encouraging and effective curriculum to engage students in team-building activities, she has also embedded Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens to help students to develop personal lifelong strategies and skills.

York Catholic DSB continues to be impressed by Ayodele’s professionalism and dedication to teaching her students.  We wish her continued life-long success and may God bless her always.
