In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Today is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.  The United Nations has set aside this day to make us aware of the terrible problems around the world arising from poverty. 30,000 children die each day around the world due to extreme poverty and hunger.

We believe in a future where poverty is history.

Where unjust discrimination is a memory.
We believe in change, change in ourselves and in the world.
We believe in God, who loves and guides us.
We believe in life, full of opportunity and hope.

Today, we commit ourselves to making changes in our lives,
We commit ourselves to working towards a world where poverty is history, where unjust discrimination is history.

Let us listen to this prayer to make poverty & hunger history:

Christ our Lord,
your light shines into the shadows,
and shows us where the obstacles to change lie.
We know that often they are in our own hearts,
in the way we live,
and in our daily choices and actions.

We pray that we may accept the light of your love
as a challenge to change ourselves and our world.

We pray that, each day, we make the choices and
take the actions that will bring an end to poverty and hunger,
and lead us all towards a fairer world.

Be with us, Creator God, as we face the challenge to serve and learn how to live our lives in love. OCGE6e
Amen.

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
