In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Today is the Feast day of St. Paul of the Cross who lived in Italy and is known for his compassion for Christ, particularly on the day of Jesus’ crucifixion.  He founded an order of priests called the Passionists after the sufferings of Jesus.

Listen carefully to this reading from the Gospel of Matthew:
(Matthew 11.28-30)
Jesus said:  “Come to me all of you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light”.

The Gospel of the Lord
[Response:  Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ]

This Gospel reading reminds us that God is always with us, that we can go to Him when we are tired or struggling or need help.  God is always a source of compassion.

We close with our prayer to Mary:
Hail Mary full of grace,
The Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women
and Blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
