BFCN’s newly relaunched Friday Focus Parent Forum continues with the third workshop in the series on Friday, February 19 from 7 PM to 9 PM. This workshop is for the whole family unit and will explore the importance of teaching Black history at home and beyond February. Join us and special guests for the celebration featuring steelpan, storytelling, and knowledge sharing!

We are excited to welcome Akilah Newton who will do a reading of her new book Movers, Shakers, History Makers: The Canadian Black History Book of Rhymes and Salah Wilson and Fatima Wilson who will perform and teach us about the history of the steelpan. A Q&A and discussion period will follow and there will also be games and prizes to be won! Please share with your friends and family and encourage them to save the date. The online workshop is free but there is limited space available so please register via Eventbrite ASAP.

The workshop is offered free of charge but registration via Eventbrite is mandatory in order to participate. A Zoom link and further details will be sent to all those who register. For more information or to share accessibility needs, please contact us at info@bfcn.ca or 416-566-2731.

After registering for the event, you will later be emailed more details of the workshop including the Zoom link. We ask that you do not share the Zoom link publicly but rather encourage people you trust and who could benefit to register. Due to several unfortunate instances of racist behaviour online, we need to take precautions to help ensure the space is as safe as possible for all participants. Thank you for your understanding. For any additional questions about the event or to share any accessibility needs, please send us an email at info@bfcn.ca or call 416-566-2731.
