On February 7, York Catholic District School Board hosted the Our Voice Leadership Conference as a kickoff to Black Heritage Month. The students and leadership teams were full of amazing energy.
The students continued to learn more about Black History, the resilience of Black people and the accomplishments of many amazing Black leaders. They participated in a number of activities and talks throughout the day and were given guidance on creating their very own presentations to share with their school’s Black clubs and councils. Everyone was treated to a delicious lunch while enjoying a live steel drums performance and making new friends. In addition, all participants were given a T-shirt featuring an inspiring quote by Harriet Tubman on the back:
