Principles of
Catholic Social
Teaching
Human dignity at the center.
At York Catholic, Catholic Social Teaching is integrated into the teaching of various subjects through the promotion of human dignity, solidarity, and the common good.
Catholic Social Teaching is derived from various Papal documents dating back more than 100 years.
The foundational principle of Catholic Social Teaching, as emphasized by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), is the dignity of the human person.
This principle states that human life is sacred and that every individual is created in the image of God, making them unique and deserving of respect.
The CCCB highlights that this is the basis for all other principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
Catholic Social Teaching Principles teach us how to love and serve the people of God and how to build just societies.
