On Feb. 5, the 2020 graduating class at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic High School celebrated the opening of their art gallery exhibit, titled “The Collection” at the Aurora Cultural Centre. The exhibit will be on display throughout the month of February for students, families, staff and community members to enjoy and support local artists.
Since 2014, the senior visual arts class has showcased their collection of abstract art, self-portraiture, photographs, designs and more at the Aurora Cultural Centre. The exhibit is called The Collection to signify the collection of artwork created by graduates.
“As it is every year, I am blessed to have the opportunity to work with such talented and gifted young artists. It is truly a privilege to be given the opportunity to be a part of the journey in which I see so many of these students walk into my classroom as Grade 9 students and leave as young adults,” said Carlos Viaes, visual arts teacher at St. Maximilian Kolbe. “I encourage each of my students to continue to commit to themselves and do what they love.”
Students are encouraging fellow students and community members to visit the exhibit from now until Feb. 29. The Aurora Cultural Centre is located at 22 Church St. in Aurora.
