May 2-7 is Catholic Education Week

The theme for Catholic Education Week 2021 is Nurturing Hope

The York Catholic District School Board is proud to celebrate Catholic Education Week May 2 – 7, 2021. During the week York Catholic schools, students and staff will celebrate the significant contributions that
Catholic Education has made locally, provincially and nationally.

The theme for this year’s Catholic Education Week is Catholic Education: Nurturing Hope. This theme reflects the ongoing reality of the COVID-19 pandemic, and builds upon the 2020 Catholic Education theme, Igniting Hope, which inspired Catholic communities, specifically school communities during the spring recess from in-school instruction last year. Catholic Education: Nurturing Hope also recognizes the challenges to personal and spiritual well-being posed by the uncertainty and physical isolation of the current global crisis. It supports the timing and the concerns of Mental Health Week, which takes place during the same week as Catholic Education Week, all the more relevant.

Schools will mark Catholic Education Week through a variety of virtual events, prayer services and classroom activities that will help students and staff reflect on what Nurturing Hope means to them. To help guide these discussions, school communities will focus on each of the daily Catholic Education Week sub-themes:

  • Monday, May 3: Preparing the Earth
  • Tuesday, May 4: Sowing Seeds of Gratitude
  • Wednesday, May 5: Cultivating Relationships
  • Thursday, May 6: Harvesting New Fruit
  • Friday, May 7: Marveling in Wonder

Families and members of the York Catholic community can join in the Catholic Education Week celebrations and reflect on the importance of Nurturing Hope through a variety of Suggested Activities for Families.

Wishing our entire York Catholic Community, a Happy Catholic Education Week!
