Christmas Greetings from the Director of Education

Christmas Greetings from the Director of Education

“I bring you good news of great joy for all people.”

–Luke 2:10

December 22, 2023

Dear Families, Staff and Students of the York Catholic District School Board,

Merry Christmas! As part of my Christmas wishes to you, I wanted to share the above quote that an angel spoke to shepherds who were minding their flock on the night Jesus was born. God could have first told the rich, powerful and famous about the birth of the Messiah, but instead, an angel came to shepherds in a field.

This moment in the Bible has a powerful and simple message: God loves all of us, and there is always hope for the future. These principles guide everything we do as a Catholic learning community. I am proud that everyone in the YCDSB worked so hard this year to implement those ideas.

For my latest episode of “Twitter Break with Director Dom,” I wanted to share a fantastic example of hope and love in action: The Rose of Sharon. The Rose of Sharon in Newmarket helps young mothers care for their babies, care for themselves and finish their high school education. Please click here to learn more about the YCDSB’s extraordinary partnership with the Rose of Sharon.

Thank you for an excellent 2023! I hope you can have a well-deserved rest with your family. Today is the last day of school, and schools re-open on Monday, January 8, 2024.

Yours in Christ,

Domenic Scuglia
Director of Education
