YCDSB Christmas Market Helps Community

Throughout the school year, the York Catholic District School Board students and staff live the Gospel mission by helping those in need. A regular feature of our schools is food drives, clothing drives, toy drives and fundraisers for worthy causes such as ShareLife and cancer research.

On Friday, December 6, 2023, York Catholic staff members hosted a Christmas market in the Catholic Education Centre to raise funds for local families who could use assistance during this holiday season. Staff and their families donated all the items sold.

The Christmas market was possible thanks to many volunteers and the leadership of the Religion and Family Life team.

“Faith guides everything that the York Catholic District School does,” said David Pimentel, Principal of Religion and Life Life. “So it was no surprise that our staff were so enthusiastic and supportive of this charitable Christmas market.”

In all, the Christmas market raised $2,500 to help York Region families during this sacred season.

The Christmas market corresponded with the Director’s Council when principals across York Catholic attended the Catholic Education Centre for professional development, making this a board-wide event.

A choir from Cardinal Carter CHS was on hand to make the mood even merrier.

Thank you to everyone who made this event a huge success.
